ENGLAND MAKE IT TO THE WORLD CUP FINAL!

July12

England have finally made it to the FIFA World Cup final after a 44 year barren spell.

Ok…. I’m not talking about the England national team (they are all off sunning themselves on a beach in various parts of the world like the pampered millionaires they are).  No, I’m talking about England’s officiating representative Howard Webb.

Four years after English refereeing was ridiculed in the wake of Graham Poll’s embarrassing performance at World Cup 2006, Webb will become the first official to oversee both the Champions League final and the World Cup final in the same season. The 38-year-old Yorkshireman, who is currently on a five-year break from South Yorkshire police where he serves as a sergeant, will be assisted by Darren Cann and Michael Mullarkey.

Wayne Rooney ‘Just Can’t Wait’ To Kick Off

England football superstar Wayne Rooney just can’t wait to get the FIFA World Cup 2010 underway. “I just can’t wait now,” he said. “The sooner it comes, the better.”

Although the subject of his temper was a major topic of conversation during yesterday’s 3-0 win over Platinum Stars in an unofficial friendly, the England forward is focused purely on beating USA in the Group C opener in Rustenburg on Saturday.

The Manchester City winger was named in the initial 30-player party by Fabio Capello. The final 23 players will be chosen on the 1st June following the friendly internationals against Mexico at Wembley tonight and Japan in Graz on the 30th May.

Johnson caught the eye of Gerrard and excited Capello during the second half of the campaign at Eastlands. The former Middlesbrough man is expected to play at least some part against Mexico this evening.
